Weekly Message

Hello, friends! Boy, it’s been an eventful few days in my house… but before we get into that, here’s the message for the week from my book SHINE. Today we have an appearance from one of the aliens, Sprout. Named by my adopted mother and mentor Barbara, Sprout was the third alien I painted and remains a fan favorite. Don’t let his wandering eyes and single tooth fool you… Sprout is wise beyond his years. Here he is with his message:

Sprout is a true oracle. He has the ability to see, with great wisdom, the past, present, and future (literally his eyes work independently of each other, which is why he looks stoned😂). It may seem like he only has one (and that’s being generous) working brain cell, but don’t be fooled. Sprout is as wise as the Buddha. With his deep vision, Sprout can see patterns and trends, and offer up solutions to challenges with the guidance of a true sage. When he finally talks, he sounds a little like Morgan Freeman. But here’s the catch… Sprout can only wax philosophical when his belly is full. He particularly likes purple pickles (but that’s another story for another day). Full belly = ancient wisdom spoken with an elegant, deep voice. Empty stomach = gibberish and slobber. Can you relate?😂

So, the message Sprout brings is this… nourish yourself. Truly fill up your body and soul with whatever you need in the moment so that you can see clearly. And, I may add, give yourself some grace in the process. What you need may change on a daily basis.

This past Tuesday, my back decided to go on strike in a big way. By Tuesday evening I needed help from Pete to walk, and by “walk” I mean perform some sort of slow zombie two-step with my hands gripping Pete’s neck while he lifted me under my armpits and we moved an inch at a time to get to the bathroom. My needs Tuesday morning were very different from my needs Tuesday night. As I was panicking from both the pain and the subsequent disability, I muttered “what am I going to do???” Pete reminded me to take one moment at a time. Do what I needed for myself in this second. And then the next. And then the next. Nourish myself as best I could in the present moment. Really listen to what my body needs instead of trying to think my way out of it. And it worked. Little by little I gave my body what it needed and let go of what I wanted it to be. As of this writing (Sunday morning), I am about 80% better.

It’s hard to see clearly when we are not nourishing ourselves with good food, healthy environments, and love. Just like Sprout, an empty belly (or soul) can lead to slobber and gibberish. So this week, nourish yourself. Really tune in and listen to what you need, and maybe let go of something you don’t.

If you like that little Sprout card in my video, then you’re in luck! I’m working on creating an oracle deck (card deck with messages) for the aliens. And, if you like your spiritual messages with a little more “sauce” (read: questionable language), then boy are you in for a treat! Tomorrow I am launching a new series of art that combines inspirational statements with my favorite word, the “f” word. It’s where I am right now, what can I say.😂

As always, thank you for your support. I’d love for you to share this message with a friend, you never know who may need to hear it!

Have a lovely Sunday, and even lovelier week, and never forget… you were born to SHINE.🤩

With love,

Peyton
