Fly By Night
Do you ever feel like you are walking in the dark, blindfolded, carefully putting one foot in front of the other as you whisper (or maybe shout and curse) tiny little prayers that your heels land on solid ground? Have you ever wondered what the heck you are doing with your life? Or why you chose to incarnate in THIS body at THIS time in THIS place? Or have you ever, even once, taken a leap of faith with absolutely no data, facts, or corroborating evidence to show that you will land safe and sound on the other side of your fears? If you can answer “yes“ to any of these questions, then I have only one thing to say to you…
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! And welcome, to your spiritual journey (said with an equal mix of spooky voice and laughter).
But in all seriousness, I salute you. When we make the conscious decision to follow our dharma and dedicate our lives to our soul’s path of alignment, the ONLY option that truly brings peace on the journey is to trust the process and our higher power. We can try to plan, predict, and control how the events of our lives will unfold, and trust me I’ve tried. But really those efforts are just the last dying breaths of an overactive ego. Following our gut, being in alignment with our truth, and walking a spiritual path is truly taking every moment one next-right-step at a time. It can feel a lot like walking blindfolded in the dark. This is where faith, trust, and intuition are vital. When it seems like we can’t see the next step in front of us and there is no ”evidence” to support our decisions, leaning into our intuition and staying in alignment are THE THINGS that pull us toward the light. In fact, our intuition IS the light. When we learn to trust and follow it, we are never in the dark.
My invitation to you this week is to be fiercely dedicated to your own path of alignment. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it ten thousand billion times… when we get in alignment with our truth everything else will recalibrate to the highest and best outcome for everyone, even if it looks like things are falling apart. Taking small steps or giant leaps of faith can leave us feeling in the dark. But, as this Great Blue Heron reminds us, it is truly by night that we learn to fly.
