Pet Portraits with soul
I started really studying mediumship and intuition in the fall/winter of 2017. I had just left an abusive marriage and was ready to parrrr-tayyyy (read: I could finally be myself). I have had many mentors over the years, and performed countless readings. Medical readings, shamanic journeys, psychic/future predictions… I have helped cross spirits over, find people who are missing, clear houses, and communicate with pets. And the only thing I know for sure is that I have not even touched the surface of what is possible. When I was practicing heart surgery, we had a saying… if you haven’t seen it yet, you haven’t been doing it long enough. I think this is sage advice.
For a while, I stopped doing readings. It felt a lot like “fixing” folks and I just really couldn’t see the point. In my mind, it was a party trick and I was ready to move on and be a SERIOUS PAINTER 😂. Every now and then friends would reach out for spiritual advice and I would gladly help as I could. But I stopped advertising and pretty much hung up my crystal ball (just kidding, I do not have a crystal ball. I have a drum and a rattle and a big ol’ stick of sage).
Then, a few weeks ago, as I was lamenting the fact that my art business seemed to be stuck, I followed the advice of my mentor and made an intuitive art piece for my partner’s birthday. I shared it with permission, and then everything started to flow again. It seems that even though I was done with Spirit, Spirit was not done with me. Over the past three weeks I have completed six intuitive art readings, sold an intuitive art original painting, and completed an intuitive pet portrait (which I am sharing today). And it has been a blast! This time around it feels so different. Less like fixing, more like offering a little bit of love and magic into a world that desperately needs it. I know for a fact that every client has the ability to receive this information on their own. We are all mediums to some degree if we choose to tune in and listen. AND, I look back on my journey and see how receiving readings from others has transformed my life. I can get the information myself, yes. But mostly I am blinded by my own ego when it comes to ME reading for ME. I am grateful for the wisdom of others and the messages they have given me. And it’s an honor to be the conduit for that love on behalf of another.
So without further ado, I give you Pup. I am sharing highlights of Pup’s reading with permission from her human, Deb. I knew going into the reading that Pup had passed, and that she was older. I also knew that Deb worked as a horse trainer and frequently took her dogs to work with her, although I did not know if Pup ever went to the barn. Other than that, I knew nothing about Pup. I prefer to go in “blind” when I read.
“Pup”, aka the Pup-ervisor (reading below)
THE NUMBER 13: The first thing this sassy miss showed me was the number 13. She actually used her paw to draw hash marks in the sand, counting in blocks of five, stopping at thirteen. I assumed this meant that she was 13 when she passed.
What Deb said: she didn’t actually know her age, but 13 is both Deb and her husband Mike’s lucky number.
THE SUPERVISOR: Pup then took me to an outdoor horse training ring that was surrounded by a fence. She pranced… business in front and hip sway in the back. She “supervised” everything that was going on in the ring by circling around the perimeter and standing up on barrels to get a better look. I used the word “supervise” several times in the reading because the word “Manager” didn’t seem to cut it. She wasn’t managing anything. She was supervising and judging.😂
What Deb said: Pup always watched her as she was in the ring training horses. She walked with this sass, partly because of an accident that injured her back end, and partly because of her attitude. And at the barn, everyone called her the “Pup-ervisor”. It was a thing.
THE SUNFLOWERS: When I first opened my circle to do the reading, I was shown a huge field of giant sunflowers. Once I got to Pup, I asked her what they meant. Pup showed me a bandana around her neck that was a sunflower print.
What Deb said: When she adopted Pup, she bought Pup her first collar. It had sunflowers on it.
HER PASSING: Some pets will take me through their passing, or give me information about the days leading up to it. Pup’s case was unusual, because when Pup took me to the scene of her passing, we watched it together. Normally I am watching it alone. But for this one, Pup sat next to me and watched Old Pup pass. She showed me that she simply curled up in her bed and went in her sleep, and that Deb found her that way. The message here was that even though Deb found her after she had passed, Pup’s spirit was there with her to help Deb through the passing. Pup knew that Deb needed time to process what had happened, so it was as if Pup lingered just a bit outside of her body before making the final journey to the other side. I have seen this in adults, but not with pets before.
What Deb said: the morning of Pup’s passing was normal… she loaded Pup into the back seat on her dog bed and drove to the barn for work. Pup stayed in her bed on the back seat while Deb left to tend to the horses. This was not unusual, Deb said that most of the time all of her dogs would hang out in the car for a little extra sleep before getting the day started. After an hour or so, Deb went to check on Pup and discovered that she had passed. She was curled up in her bed on the back seat. Deb climbed back there with her and sat with her for a while as she processed the loss.
Knowing that Pup’s spirit was there with her during that time helped relieve some of Deb’s heart ache. And all of the incredible validation that Pup gave earlier in the reading let Deb know that the most important part is true… Pup was with her in the moments after her passing and can still communicate with her. The barn may have lost their canine Supervisor, but Pup-ervisor lives on!
It is readings like these that remind me of WHY I am a medium. There is something just so beautiful about the spirit realm that makes our losses of loved ones seem more magical than tragic. Pup’s story is no exception.
With every pet portrait and reading I create a time-lapse video… Pup’s is below if you’d like to see her come to life on canvas. I hope that this little glimpse into Pup’s spirit brings a smile to your face and warms your heart today. And let this serve as my formal announcement that I have dusted off my crystal ball… if you are interested in a reading or intuitive art, let’s chat.💜 And a huge thanks to Deb for allowing me to share her sweet fur baby with you, and to Theresa for the encouragement.
with love,
Peyton and the Pup-ervisor
